Verna V. "Johnnie" Young, age 89, of Mena, passed away Monday, January 19, 2009 in Mena.
She was born May 30, 1919 in Athens, Arkansas to the late James Louis White and the late Cora L. O'Neal White. She was united in marriage to David B. Young. Mrs. Young was a nurse by profession. She was a loving homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend.
Survivors are:
Daughter: Janice Key of Mena, Arkansas
Grandchildren: Tina Bray of Queen City, Texas Lori McCain and husband Andy of Nashville, Arkansas Vicki Cowart and husband Jason of Kirby, Arkansas
Great Grandchildren: Cody Aaron of Mena, Arkansas Luke and Tess Cowart of Kirby, Arkansas Savannah and Andrew McCain of Nashville, Arkansas
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Cora White, her husband David B. Young, and a son, David B. Young, Jr..
Funeral services will be Friday, January 23, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Beasley-Wood Chapel with Brother Dardanelle Townsley officiating. Interment follows at Pinecrest Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.
A Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday evening, January 22, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
