Spanish flu pandemic victim. Barney was listed as "stout" on his WW1 draft enrollment paperwork. He had black hair and blue eyes. He had three great grandparents that were native American, one being of the Chickahominy Indian Tribe.
During the Pandemic, people were dying so quickly that casket makers could not keep up with the demand for caskets, so people were buried in anything that could be found. Barney, being a stout man, was buried in a piano case.
He never married, and had no children. He is easily identifiable in family photographs due to his rotund appearance.
