CLAUDE LOVE AUSTELL, III, aged 71, Reuben to his family and friends, Chuck to his colleagues, passed away from complications of pancreatic cancer on Saturday, August 22nd. He lived in Bridgeville, DE, previously in Plant City, FL and Bowie, MD.
Mr. Austell was born on June 20th, 1938 in Shelby, NC to C.L. Austell, Jr. and Croweline Doster Austell. He was employed by the Dept. of Defense after serving in the Army, giving more than 38 years of service to his country. He enjoyed golfing, discussing politics, visiting friends, and mostly, playing with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Ann Tuttle. He is survived by his wife, Elgi; two sons, Christopher and Mark; three stepsons, William, Mark and John Kaarid; four daughters-in-law; five grandchildren; and, seven step-grandchildren.

There will be a memorial service at the Cecil Burton Funeral Home in Shelby on Sunday, August 30th, 2009 at 4:00 pm. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
An additional service will be held at All Saints Lutheran Church in Bowie on Saturday, September 5th at 1:00 pm
In lieu of flowers, Mr. Austell's family requests donations to the Delaware Hospice (see www.dehospice.org for details).
