Mrs. Russell went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Jan. 5, 2007, in her home in Prineville, Ore., at the age of 71 after a long illness. There will be visitation Wednesday , Jan. 10, from 1-5 p.m. at Whispering Pines Funeral Home in Prineville, Ore.
Funeral services will be held at the First Missionary Baptist Church in Bend, Oregon, 21129 Reed Market Rd. at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 11.
A committal service will be held at 2 p.m. at Juniper Haven Cemetery in Prineville. Pastor Ernie Johnson and Pastor Tom Counts will be officiating.
She married Willie C. (Bill) Russell of Rosedale, Okla., on Oct. 25, 1953, in the home of her mother in Sulphur, Okla. Three children were born of this union.
As a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church of Bend, Ore., she established a Children's Church Ministry. Her passion was children's evangelism. Lou was greatly loved by her church family as well as many other friends and will be greatly missed.
Other hobbies were her flower garden, painting and music, but most of all her family who always recognized her as "grandma".
Mrs. Russell is survived by: her husband Bill Russell; one son, Tim Russell and wife Amy; two daughters, Cathy and husband Kurt Jones; and Carla and husband Jeff Jones, all of Prineville, Ore.; also 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Amerylys Maher of Dickson, Okla., and numerous nieces and nephews. Lou was preceded in death by her mother and father and three brothers. Contributions may be made in the name of Mrs. Russell to the First Missionary Baptist Church at 21129 Reed Market Rd.
