Jack Roger Gram, 79, of Springfield, died at 2:28 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2006 in his residence. Jack was born November 19, 1927 and resided in Springfield his entire life. He was the loving husband of Peggy Jerew Gram for 56 years and the son of late Nelson and Mildred (Compton) Gram. Jack served on the Springfield Fire Division for thirty years, retiring as Assistant Chief in 1981. His grandfather, Howard Compton, his uncle Willard Compton, his brothers Nelson and Jim Gram, his brother-in-law Dean Hodson, and his son-in-law James Powell were all firefighters on the Springfield Fire Division. He was a former president of Local #333, an active life member of the Ohio Fire Chiefs Association, a member of St. Andrew's Lodge 619 Free and Accepted Masons, and a member of the Senior's Bowling League at Northridge Bowling Alley. He served in the US Navy during World War II.

He is survived by his wife Peggy; three daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie (Jim) Powell of Grand Rapids, MI, Kimberly (Gene) Stefanski of Westminster, CO, and Jacquelyn (Jeff) Groth of Carmel, IN; special friends, John and Shirley Hulsey and family; one brother, Thornton (Bud) Gram of California, and two brothers-in-law, Jerry and John Jerew of Bucyrus, OH. He was a loving grandfather to seven grandchildren; Dynette (Powell) Clark, Danny Powell, Dustin Trujillo, Jessica Trujillo, Beau Trujillo, Ashley Groth, and Sara Groth, and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law Howard and Helen Jerew, brothers Jim and Nelson (Tean) Gram, sister Maryan Hodson and her husband Dean Hodson, brothers-in-law Jack and Jim Jerew, and three nephews – Jimmy Gram, Bob Hodson, and Terry Gram.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME with Firefighters Turnout at 1:45 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday December 18, 2006, with Pastor John Pollock, officiating. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Miami Valley Chapter, 3797 Summit Glen Dr., Suite G100, Dayton, OH 45449 and Community Mercy Hospice, 1343 N. Fountain Blvd., Springfield, OH 45504.
