Obituary:
Robert G. Diefenderfer, Sr. of Trappe passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at his home after a long illness. He was 67.
Born in Trappe, Maryland on March 16, 1942, he was the son of the late Edna Griffin and Henry Diefenderfer. He attended Talbot County Schools and graduated from Easton High School. After high school he served with the National Guard.
For many years he worked as a farmer at Wild Goose Farms. He also worked construction for P.E. Moore before retiring in 2004. He loved hunting and fishing in his spare time.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Lynne Diefenderfer; his son, Robert (R.D.) Diefenderfer, Jr. and girlfriend Ashleigh Beckett; his daughter, Mandy Insley and her husband David and their three children Spencer, Logan and Paige. He is also survived by a sister, Anne Brinsfield Truitt of Vienna; 2 sisters-in-law, Eunice Diefenderfer of Preston and Shirley Diefenderfer of Laurel, Delaware; also many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Diefenderfer and William Earl Diefenderfer.
Services will be held at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., Easton, Maryland on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at 12:00 noon where family and friends may call two hours prior.
Burial will follow at Oxford Cemetery, Oxford, Maryland.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the Talbot Hospice Foundation, 586 Cynwood Drive, Easton, Maryland 21601.
