1871 British Census, she is living with Grandmother, Sarah Cox household in Cheddar, Eng. Schoolgirl.
1880 KS Census Allen County, , FHC film #1254372, listed age 17, born England.
Marriage date listed on funeral notes as March 10, 1883
Actual Marriage date of 10 Mar 1884 in Yates Center, Ks, found in LDS FHC film # 1428817, book C, pg.11. Copy of marriage license and record of marriage performed. They had five children: Harry Ellsworth(1887-1937), Bessie Mae (1888-1976), Charles Walter (1891-1975), Annie Ruth (1894-1981), Ralph Waldo (1899-1904).

1885 KS Census, FHC film #0975699, Listed as coming from Mississippi on 1885 Kansas Census. Father listed as coming from Alabama on 1885 Kansas Census. Granddaughter Bessie's life history lists family as coming to Kansas from Louisiana, where they entered USA abt 1875. All census agree birth as England. 1900 Census lists age 38, b. 1862, immigrated 1874.

After divorce from Charles Perry Emerson, they family had a hard time making ends meet. She used to receive Royalty Checks from the Duke of Bath for the lease on the stalactite caverns found on her grandfather's (Cox) farm in Cheddar, England.

Annie was a very proper British lady, even in later years, always wanting her afternoon tea. She loved music and played the piano. After her marriage to Reverend Willam Hill, she was a gracious hostess to the ministry wherever they travelled throughout Kansas. She met Wm H Hill because he needed a housekeeper after his first wife left. Annie applied for the job. They married at Smith Center, Kansas."


Death Certificate # 45-4153, Kansas. Actually died in Limestone, Jewell county, KS. Was in hospital there three weeks. Died at age 80.,
Obit: "Annie Louise Hill, wife of Reverend Hill, daughter of Joseph and Sarah Croker, was born in Somersetshire, England, January 25, 1863, and died Nov 22, 1943, aged 80 years, 9 months, and 27 days. She spent her girlhood in Louisiana. On March 10, 1883, she was married to Perry Emerson. To this union were born five children, of whom two sons, together with her husband, preceeded her. Early in life she was converted and joined the Methodist Church in Osawatomie, Kansas. On Sept 7, 1911, she was married to Rev. William Hill. She was an unusually efficient pastor's wife, and many will cherish her memory. She leaves three children, thirteen grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchilren. Funeral services were conducted from the Esbon Church with the pastor, Rev. Bertha Fogelberg, officiating. Interment in the Esbon cemetery."
