GEORGIA MARIE ABEL, 84, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2009. Georgia was a long time resident of Pasadena and owned Abel Drugs for twenty one years after the death of her husband William J. Abel, Sr. who established the pharmacy in 1959. Although Abel Drugs closed in 1999, many longtime Pasadena residents will remember it as a community fixture, and were probably waited on by Mrs. Abel. Georgia was born in Dubina, TX November 26, 1924. She lived a long and fruitful life, raising seven children, and being grandmother to 12, and great grandmother to 9. She was preceded in death by her husband William J. Abel, Sr., and sons Donald J. Abel and William J. Abel. Jr. She is survived by sons Tom and wife Debbie, Bob and wife Iva, Mike and wife Tina, and Kenny and wife Christine; and daughter Ann McBride and husband Kevin, as well as the aforementioned grandchildren and great grandchildren. Friends are invited to visitation from 5 until 7 pm Monday evening in the chapel of Grand View Funeral Home, with a rosary to begin at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will be at 1:00 pm Tuesday afternoon at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church, 2921 Center St in Deer Park, with interment to follow in Grand View Memorial Park.
