She was born July 31, 1910, in Roanoke Township, a daughter of Henry and Clara Hunzinger Heyungs. She married Edward E. Cox on July 21, 1937, in Secor. He passed away Oct. 22, 1988.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Hobart; infant sister, LaVeryne; sister, Talitha Moritz; and brothers, Joyce and George Heyungs.
Elsie had worked at several Roanoke businesses, including the former O'Deas Cleaners and Roanoke Hardware.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Roanoke, where she taught Sunday school for many years.
She was also a founding member of the Roanoke Art League and belonged to the Friends in Faith Ladies Group.
She dearly loved her family and friends, oil painting, reading, studying maps and just chatting. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
