QUINCY - Albert Mariano, 73, of Quincy, a retired rigger, died Monday at home after a brief illness.
Mr. Mariano worked for Bethlehem Steel and General Dynamics at the Fore River shipyard in Quincy for 38 years and retired in 1986.
He was a World War II Navy veteran who served as a boatswain's mate seaman on the USS Fargo and the USS Mississippi.
Mr. Mariano was a member of Local 5 of the the Shipbuilders Union.
He was born, educated and lived his entire life in Quincy.
He is survived by a brother, Victor Mariano of Quincy; two sisters, Rachel Uvanitti and Louise DiBona, both of Quincy; and many nephews and nieces.
His funeral service and burial will be private.
There are no visiting hours.
Arrangements were made by the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home in Quincy.
