William Robert Andrews was born in Whitehead, Brandon area of Manitoba, Canada. The family migrated to Tisdale, Saskatchewan, Canada.

He married his 1st wife Mary Mildred Hamilton in 1906 in Tisdale. They had four children.

On July 24, 1925, in Edmonton, Alberta, William married Grace Winnifred Hensman. William and Grace immigrated to Washington, USA on March 3, 1927.
