Funeral services for Mrs. Calvin D. Acker, age 63, who died February 12 in her farm home southwest of Taylor Ridge following a six-week illness, were held Sunday afternoon in the Larson Funeral home, Milan, and the Zion Lutheran church, Buffalo Prairie, of which she was a member, the Rev. John L. Stuebe officiating.
Mrs. Acker, the former Marie Anna Seitz, was born near Preemption on Oct. 3, 1889, the daughter of Gottlieb and Mary E. Brandley Seitz. She resided near Sherrard with her parents until 1901 when the family moved to the Edgington community. She was married to Mr. Acker Dec. 12, 1923, in the Zion Lutheran church by the Rev. Ernest D. Mennicke. The couple had farmed in the Edgington community since their marriage.
Surviving are the widower; a daughter, Mrs. Charles F. Block, Moline; a son, Norman L., at home; a step-son, Richard C., of near Taylor Ridge; ten grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. M. J. Stanton, Sherrard; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister.
Burial was in the Zion Lutheran cemetery.
