He married Elizabeth Anderson July 17, 1843 in Nauvoo, Illinois. They had 3 children Charles Heber,Allen Joseph, and Martha Ann. She passed away 5 days after giving birth to her 3rd child(Martha Ann Stout)in 1848. Then he married Amanda Melvina Fisk on April 30, 1848 at the winter quaters,Council Bluffs, Nebraska. He wad 15 children with her.
Member 19th quorum seventies. Bodyguard of Joseph Smith and Brigham Young. Aide-de-camp in Nauvoo Legion. Farmer.
