From John D. Curtis:
Alec was born on June 4, 1866 in Edina, Knox County, Missouri. He is the son of the following couple:

1. John Thomas Jones. John was born in 1833 in Illinois. He died on April 5, 1901 near San Miguel, California.
2. Matilda Cecelia Rhodes Jones. Matilda was born on December 16, 1843 in Ralls County, Missouri. She died April 26, 1927 in San Miguel, California at age 83.

At some point, Matilda and John moved to Canton, Missouri. The Christian Church, to which they belonged, had established the Christian College there in 1858. Alec attended this institution. It is believed that he received a diploma from the College.

After moving to California, Alec became the accountant for the Parkfield (California) Store. In 1891, Alec married Parkfield's Viola May Redmond, sister of the famous deaf-mute artist, Granville Redmond. Alec and May had two children:

1. Carrie Savina Jones. Born March 18th, 1892.
2. Edward Munson Jones. Born in 1896 (exact date unknown).

Edward Munson died as an infant on November 8, 1896. Alec died of "lung fever" (tuberculosis) on February 23, 1897 at the age of 30. Carrie was thrown from a horse and died in 1905 or 1906 (exact date unknown) at the age of 13. May remarried, moved away, and was last known to be living in Los Angeles.
