Daniel Pritchard Ammons, 49, of 112 A Northridge Drive, Asheville, N.C. died Saturday, October 29, 1994, in a local hospital.
A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Pritchard Ammons and Martha Duncan Ammons. He was a teacher at Enka High School and served as principal of North Buncombe High School, Pisgah Elementary School and Haw Creek and was assistant principal at North Buncombe Middle. He had been named principal of the new Black Mountain Elementary School.
He was a member of Buncombe County Principals/Assistant Principals Association and was former young educator of the year in Buncombe County and a member of the Phi Delta Kappa Educational fraternity. He was a member of Cummings Memorial United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles M. Ammons, who died in 1975.
He was survived by four brothers, Judson C. Ammons of Arden, N.C., John D. Ammons and Thomas G. Ammons, both of Winston-Salem, N.C. and Robert T. Tate of Kings Mountain, N.C.; a sister, Martha Ammons of Winston-Salem, N.C.
Graveside services were held at noon Monday, October 31, 1994 in Campground Cemetery in Horseshoe, N.C. with the Rev. Roy Hood officiating.
