OBIT - RUSSELL REFORMER (KANSAS) 10 Mar 1911
Jackson West Dead
Jackson West, whose illness at his home at Kahoka, Missouri, was reported in the last issue, died last week. His remains were taken to his old home in Virginia for burial. Mrs. West was a sister of Mr. Cline of this city and the latter was with her during the latter part of Mr. West's illness.

He was an early resident of Russell and built what has lately been known as the Boyd-Vanderbur house just east of the waterworks tower. He was in the cattle business in range days and his active life and jovial, good nature made him a popular citizen. He was one of the early mayors of Russell and also served on the board of county commissioners. Many of the old timers remember him distinctly and their references to him all run in a kindly vein. He visited here a couple of years ago. (Submitted by Carol Board Westfall)
