Mary Irene Lyles, 79, of Norman died Tuesday, September 1, 2009 in Norman. She was born July 23, 1930, to James T. and Maudie O. (Harris) Shannon in Wilson, Oklahoma. Mrs. Lyles lived in Norman since 1963. She was a member of the Pleasant Valley Home Extension. She loved quilting, embroidery and sewing. She was an avid reader. Mrs. Lyles is survived by five sons, Larry Lyles and wife Emily of Edmond, Jerry Lyles and wife Janice of Oklahoma City, John Lyles and wife Jolene of Norman, George Lyles and wife Elaine of Ponder, Texas, Don Lyles and wife Fabienne of Carrollton, Texas; a daughter, Janet Wright and husband Patrick of Norman; a cousin, Lee Cook of Oklahoma City; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George Lyles and a sister, Jimmie Stockton. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 AM Friday, September 4, at St. Mark's The Evangelist Catholic Church with burial at Resthaven Memory Gardens. Services are under the direction of Primrose Funeral Service. The family will receive friends 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday at Primrose Funeral Service.
