James Eckrod/Eckenrode the fourteenth child of John and Catharinen (Reppert) Eckenrode () was born on 13 November 1822 in Unity Township, Westmoreland County as was baptized by Reverend Terrence McGirr on 25, March 1824, sponsors; Christopher Buch/Buck and Mary Kintz (probably Kuntz/Kuhns). (HR, page 89; "Records", Volume 28, page 298). He moved with the family to Clearfield Township, Cambria County after March 1824 where he was living at home in Clearfield Township in the 1830 and 1840 censuses. (WK-book, page 453)
About 1849/1850 James Married Mary Deloyier/Delozier born February 1824 and took up residence in Allegheny Township, Cambria County. He died on June 9, 1895 and was buried on June 11th, 1895 in St. Michael's Cemetery, Loretto, Pennsylvania (LC, page 174; Cambria County Death Book, Volume 1, page 42). His widow, Mary (Delozier) Eckenrode (4) had five children:
1. John Eckenrode (5) He was born Mary 1851 and was at home, unmarried in 1900.
2.William Eckenrode (5) He was born April 7, 1852, was mentally handicap, and died by 16th, December 1889.
3. Michael D. Eckenrode (5) was born about 1855
4. Hellena A. Eckenrode (5) was born about 1856 and at home in 1880
5. Romanus Eckenrode (5) He was born about 1857 and died April 26, 1872.
