Mrs. Painter was born in Logtown in 1911 and had been a resident of Pascagoula off and on since 1917. She was an entertainer for over 30 years in Detroit, Chicago, Miami and New Orleans and retired in 1963.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland ''Jack'' Painter; a daughter, Gaye Painter Kelly; a stepdaughter, Boots Raul; her mother, Cora Bowman; her father, Elijah Bowman; two sisters, Flora Bowman and Celeste Taylor; and a brother, McVey ''Mac'' Bowman.
Survivors include nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula with recitation of the rosary at 7:30 p.m. A service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home chapel with burial in Greenwood Cemetery in Pascagoula.
