M. Joan Voirol, 80, of rural Albion, died on Saturday, October 20th, 2007 at 12:50 p.m. at the Parkview Noble Community Hospital in Kendallville where she had been a patient since Friday.
She was born on July 7, 1927 in Kendallville, Indiana to Henry Clay and Alice Josephine (Eagles) Curtis. They both preceed her in death.
Joan was a homemaker and lived most of her life in Albion with her husband, Robert "Bob" Voirol, in which she married on January 9, 1949 in Covington, Kentucky. He survives in Albion.
Also surviving are 2 daughters and son-n-laws, Corinne and Galen Gillenwater of Albion, and Roberta and Grant Merriman of Albion.
5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Her favorite past time was watching the Chicago Cubs and Bulls play, reading, knitting, and years ago she enjoyed boating and skiing.
Joan and Bob also enjoyed their winters in Florida together.
She was a member of Albion Presbyterian Church, the Albion American Legion Post # 246 Auxiliary and a former member of the Albion Eagles.
Services will be Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Brazzell Funeral Home, Albion Chapel, 771 Trail Ridge Rd. The Rev. Bret Frymier will officiate.
Active pallbearers will be Jeff Gillenwater, Keith Gillenwater, Mike Merriman, Melissa Voirol, Brandon Kimmell, and Blake Vanover.
Honorary pallbearers will be Audra Kimmell, Brooke Sell, and Mariah Sell.
Calling will be from 2-4 and 6-8 PM also at the funeral home on Tuesday.
