A native Dayton, Texas, he was a graduate of Dayton High School and a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.
He died on Friday, September 4, 2009, Hermann Memorial Hospital in Houston.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until time of service at the church.
He is survived by his wife: Courtney Payne; four daughters: Jaide Payne, Adreea Payne, Courtlynn Payne and E'Leila Payne; his parents: Thomas and Jacqueline Payne; two sisters: Marcella Payne and Marvella Payne-Brady; his grandmother: Beatrice Payne, and a host of other relatives and friends.
