Milton H. Harthan, 91, West Cohasset, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001, at Homestead Nursing Home, Deer River.


He was born May 29, 1910, in Clear Lake, Iowa, to George and Sarah (Scherf) Harthan. He came to the West Cohasset area with his family in 1913. He farmed in West Cohasset, worked in the iron mines, and retired from the Danube Mine in 1970. Following retirement, he drove school bus for District 318. He was an active member of Grace Bible Chapel where he taught Sunday School and served as elder.


He is survived by a brother, Carroll (Catherine), Grand Rapids; one sister, Edna (Douglas) Anderson, Grand Rapids; sisters-in-law, Sylvia Harthan, Hermantown, Marie Harthan, Hill City, and Esther Harthan, Grand Rapids; and numerous nieces and nephews.


Preceding him in death were his wife, Mildred, in 1989; brothers, Lloyd, Leo, Leslie and Orville; and sisters, Doris Harthan, Freda Henry and Evelyn Connell.


Services: Monday, Oct. 29, at 10 a.m. at Grace Bible Chapel. Visitation is Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Libbey Funeral Home.
