Thora O. Stenborg, age 89, of Grand Rapids, died Sunday, April 10, 2005, at Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital, Grand Rapids.

Thora was born on June 8, 1915 in Cohasset, to Fred and Emma (Harthan) Adams. She graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1933 and attended Bemidji Teachers College where she earned her teaching certificate. Thora was a teacher at the White Oak School for two years. She was united in marriage to Nils R. Stenborg on Nov. 26, 1936.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Nils; one brother, Clifford Adams; one sister, Laverna Trollope; and James Passard, and Alvin Moody.

She is survived by two daughters, Sharlene K. (James) Fisher of Fridley, RoJean Holler of Brookfield, Wis.; four grandchildren, Steven W. Karkela, Lori (Paul) Murphy, A.J. and Max Holler; and three great-grandchildren, Maggie Pingolt, Sam Murphy, and Eve Murphy; and special family friend, Joseph Kraker of Virginia.

Services: Visitation will be Wednesday, April 13, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Rowe Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 14, at 11 a.m. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Grand Rapids. The Rev. Michael Carlson will officiate. Burial will be at Itasca-Calvary Cemetery, Grand Rapids.
