A native of Minnesota, Alfred was already considered a farmer by age 14, sharing the land with his father, Alfred Clark, in Forest Township, Rice Co. He resided in Forest, between 1900 to 1910. In 1915, Alfred was working as a Teamster in Faribault. By 1920, Alfred and his family (Cynthia, and three children: Josephine, Alvin and Clifford) were residing and farming in Sletten Township, Polk County.
He and his family moved to California around 1920. His daughter Marjorie was born in 1924 in Sacramento.
The 1930 Census listed Alfred and his family as living in American Township, Sacramento County. He continued to farm, working as a Poultry Farmer (raising turkeys), in American Township, and Rio Linda, Sacramento County, California.
He was also a member of the Rio Linda Grange, No. 403.
His wife, Cynthia, passed away on Dec 1, 1931.
He eventually remarried, sometime between 1931 -1936, to Louise B. McKown.
He lived in Rio Linda for 22 years .
Alfred passed away on May 17, 1943 at his home in Rio Linda.
