Deceased Name: PATRICK WALTON "PAT" GRIFFIN

REIDSVILLE - Patrick Walton "Pat" Griffin, died Monday, March 19, 2007, at his home with his family by his side after a few weeks of declining health.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, at Main Street United Methodist Church with Dr. Charles Hutchens officiating. Burial will be in Greenview Cemetery.

Pat was born on September 27, 1909, in Rockingham County, to Patrick Raine Griffin and Janie Sharp Griffin. He moved to Reidsville in 1927, where he worked for American Tobacco Company and played semi-professional baseball for the Reidsville Luckies. He married Kathryn S. Johnson in 1931, and served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church for over 50 years and a member of Pennrose Park Country Club since its inception. He was an avid golfer, story-teller and gardener and an adept inventor and fixer of clocks and other equipment.

Pat was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years; his parents and his brother, John L. "Dick" Griffin (Pearl).

He is survived by his son, Hal R. Griffin and wife, Donna; two daughters, Patricia A. Griffin and Donna G. Thomas and husband, Charles; grandchildren, Lauren K Griffin, Patrick M. Griffin, and Kathryn L. Thomas

The family will see friends 12 noon until 2 p.m. Wednesday in the fellowship hall of Main Street United Methodist Church before the services.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Main Street United Methodist Church Building Fund P.O. Box 338 Reidsville, N.C. 27323-0338; or to Hospice of Rockingham County P.O. Box 218 Wentworth, N.C. 27375; or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Citty Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
