Funeral services for John J. Trapanese, age 87, of Riverside Drive, Ogdensburg, will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at the Heuvelton Wesleyan Church at 10:00 AM with Rev. Paul Dettmer and Rev. Mike Romshick officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum in Wilkes-Barre, PA. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at Frary Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Mr. Trapanese passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at his home.
Mr. Trapanese is survived by his wife, Marjorie; two sons, Stephen of Lake Whales, FL and Michael and his wife Dana of Richmond, VA; one daughter, Susan Trapanese of Centerville, VA; one granddaughter, Jennifer Trapanese; four step children, James and his wife Connie Barton of Ogdensburg, Chester and his wife Christine of Phoenix, AZ; two daughters, Betty and her husband David Freed of St. Charles, MO and Barbara and her husband Finely Howell of Palenville, NY; one brother, Victor Trapanese of Wilkes-Barre, PA. Mr. Trapanese is predeceased by two brothers, Angelo and Albert.
Mr. Trapanese was born on October 25, 1921 in Eboli, Italy the son John and Amelia (Mastanglo) Trapanese. He graduated from Wilkes-Barre High school in 1941. He served in the US Army and later in the US Air Force. He first married Mary Ellen Roby in Washington, DC in October 1945. She died in 1995. He then married Marjorie Moore at the Winter Haven Church in Florida on October 25, 1996. Mr. Trapanese worked for United Airlines as an inspector and a mechanic for 38 years retiring in 1984.
Mr. and Mrs. Trapanese were very active in Meals on Wheels while living in Florida. Mr. Trapanese was involved as a member of the Lake Whales Volunteer Fire Department. His hobbies included planes, hunting, fishing and softball.
