wife's obituary: Esther Louise Hansel passed away at OHSU Hospital, Portland, OR, on January 22, 2015, at the age of 91. She was born at the home ranch three miles from McFadden, WY, August 5, 1923, to John B. King and Ruth Thobro King.
She was raised by her Uncle Herb and Aunt Lucinda after a fire January 23, 1928, took the lives of her parents and two of her brothers. She attended the University of Wyoming, Laramie, WY, and nurses training in Pueblo, CO. She married Halsey V. "Mack" Hansel, September 23, 1943. They bought a ranch in Tuscarora, NV, which was later sold to Bing Crosby. They then purchased a ranch at Jiggs, NV, where they ranched until 1962.
She then was employed by the USDA as a meat inspector in Elko, NV. She transferred to Ellensburg, WA, in 1970, and then transferred to Wenatchee, WA, in 1974. She retired in 1983. She resided in Dryden, WA, for 33 years before moving to Goldendale, WA, in 2007 to be closer to her daughter. She loved her flower gardens and her pets.
She is survived by daughters Sylvia Cannon of Wickenburg, AZ, and Karla Nolen of Goldendale, WA, 3 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, plus nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, three brothers Herbert, Donald and Neal, and her parents.
