James and Anna Brice with their two daughters, Jane and Anna settled at Brice, Mo.(named after them) and built a mill. Brice, Mo. was eventually turned over to the state by Jane's sister, Anna and her 2nd husband Peter Bennett and is now known as Bennett's Springs, Mo.
Peter Bennett was from Illinois and Asahel Bennett was from Indiana. They were not related other than marrying sisters.
After Jane's death, he remarried to Caroline and was still married to her when he died.
Asahel died of an illness while serving in the Civil War. He is interred in the Springfield National Cemetery, Springfield, Greene County, Mo. the same day he died.

"List of Union Soldiers Buried at Cassville, MO"
This list of approx 250 soldiers included Asahel Bennett (transcribed in error from his headboard as Andrew)
Most were casualties of Battle of Pea Ridge ,Arkansas Mar 6-8, 1862 who eventually succumbed to their wounds. Others died of disease with measles and typhoid being the primary causes.
Of those 250, over 150 headboards, having been inscribed in pencil, were no longer legible.
Abt 1867, all were exhumed and moved to Springfield National Cemetery with the majority interred as unknowns.
