Hughy A Stephens of Galvez died Sunday at 3: 35 a.m. at his residence. He was 40 years old. Religious services were held at 3 p.m. at the Mount Zion Baptist Church in Galvez, with the Rev. J.T. Squires and Rev. Charles Robertson officiating. Interment was held in the church cemetery. Stephens had lived all his life in Galvez. He was survived by his widow, the former Farris Soley of Galvez, a son Alvin, a daughter Shirley Mae, of Galvez, his parents Mr. and Mrs. H.B. Stephens of Lake , a brother Joe Stephens, of Lake, six sisters, Mrs. Sam Pearson and Mrs. Emile Millet, of Lake, Mrs. Van Evans and Mrs. Johnnie Dixon of Galvez, Mrs. Eva Villar of Gonzales and Mrs. Hulon Jones of Port Vincent.
Hugh A. Stephens, special helper in the Pipe Department, died March 9. He had three years and three months of Standard Oil service, starting in July, 1943, as a carpenter's helper. He was born at Head of Island on May 6, 1906. Burial was near Galvez, where he lived. He is survived by his widow.
