ANDREW WALZ SERVICES HELD
Funeral services for Andrew J. Walz, 83, who passed away Friday at the Dakota Nursing home were held at 2:30 Monday at the First Congregational church. The Rev. Walter Forred officiated at the rites. Interment was in the Bluff View cemetery under the direction of the Elmore Wagner Funeral service.
Mr. Walz was born March 25, 1878, at Hubbard, Ohio. He was married on Sept. 6, 1905 to Bertha Nicholson at Vermillion. She died in 1951. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles lodge.
Survivors include four sons, Henry and Carl, both of Vermillion; Burdette, Salem, Ore.; Arnold, Compton, Calif; four daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Ahlgrim, Vermillion, Mrs. Phyllis Melcher, Platte, Mrs. Fern Ostrem, Irene, and Mrs. Margaret Peterson, Prescott, Ariz.; a sister, Mrs. Cecelia Cleland of Vermillion, 24 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Casket bearers were Harold Ahlgrim, Warren Melcher, Roger Walz, Melvin Walz, Patrick Walz and Ray Ostrem.
