Robert H Woodside is the son of Samuel C Woodside and Janette Morrow. Robert married Ann Hill 4 Jul 1799 Caldwell Co, Ky.(Then Livingston Co) James C Kimzey and Robert came to Perry Co, Il together.(1829/30) Robert's wife Ann and James 1st wife Elizabeth Hill were sisters. Their parents were Ephraim Hill and Ann Holiday.

He was a Justice of Peace in Perry county. Robert's will was probated in Perry Co, IL, Dec 24, 1846. Robert Woodside had a deed for 190 acres in Livingston Co , KY, on the Piney fork of Tradewater, Mar 5, 1802, and also a deed for 205 acres, Mar 4, 1802. The first school was near his home, at Four Mile Prairie, in Perry Co, IL (from The History of Randolph, Monroe, and Perry Counties by McDonough) The orphan Stephen Young (who married Sarah, Robert's sister) was bound to him to learn the hatter's trade. On Dec 6, 1802 Robert Woodside and others were to make a road from Eddyville to the mouth of Hurricane, and on Jan 3 , 1803 he was appointed surveyor of Roads. On April 28, 1807 he appraised the estate of Thomas Gooch and the Elder estate. In 1819 Robert Woodside helped to lay out and mark a road, the highest and best way from the fork of Livingston Creek to Gray's Ferry on the Ohio River...from the fork of Livingston to the Hurricane road.
He was on the 1810 census, Livingston Co, KY.
Sept 15, 1817: At Sept 1816, term of Livingston Circuit Court William Henry and Thomas Elder appointe commissioners to sell lands of Ephraim Hill Sr., Dec'd, as a result o f a suit in Chancery between heirs of Ephraim Hill, Sr. (complaints) and heirs of Robert Hill and Ephraim Hill, Jr.(defendants). Robert Woodside, as highest bidder, bought said lands consisting of 200 acres on Crooked Creek, granted by Commonwealth of KY to Hill Sr. Feb 13, 1809, Adj. George Mayes, David Hill, and Mary Elder, for $75 . Signed: William Henry, Thomas Elder. Recorded Feb 17, 1818. On July 20, 1820, William Henry and Robert Woodside were Commissioners appointed to sell 323 acres of land belonging to William S McCarter, dec'd to James Cruce, for $312.
The History of Randolph, Monroe, and Perry Counties by McDonough, says on page 336, that Robert Woodside, James Kimsey and William Armstrong came to Four-Mile Prairie (south of Pinckneyville) in 1829. They were Kentuckians.
Robert H Woodside was in the 24th Ramsay's Regiment, Militia. He fought in the War of 1812, his service is documented with the National Society of the US Daughters of the War of 1812
