EDWIN WILLIAM GROVE, SR., age 73, of Peppers Ferry Road, Wytheville, Va, died Monday, November 20, 2000 in the North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC. He was born June 15, 1927, in Wythe County, the son of the late Robert W. and Susie Horton Grove. He was a member of the Max Meadows United Methodist Church and a retired financial supervisor with Avco Financial Services. He was a member of the Max Meadows Ruritan Club, a member of Palatka Masonic Lodge # 34, F. & A.M. and Hasan Temple in Albany Georgia. He also served in the Merchant Marines. He is survived by: his wife, Maxine I. Grove; two sons and daughters-in-law - Edwin W. Jr. and Linda Grove of Sopchoppy, FL and Ronald I. and Denise Grove of Sharpsburg, GA; four grandchildren - Kelly Altice, Scott Grove, Edwin Grove, III, Matthew Grove; five great-grandchildren, one brother and sister-in-law - Bobby and Opal Grove of Black Mountain, NC; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 24, 2000 at 1:00 p.m. at the Max Meadows United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rick Lindamood officiating. Interment will follow in the West End Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church one hour before service time. The family will receive friends at the Barnett Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday. the family suggests that those who prefer may make memorials to the Max Meadows United Methodist Church memorial fund, PO Box 246, Max Meadows, VA 24360.
