A Terrible Accident

Bertha Linder Accidently Shot, Monday Evening Which Proved Fatal.

Bertha Linder, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Linder, who live on the Kivett farm west of town was accidently shot by one of her brothers about five o'clock Monday evening which caused her death a few hours later. Just how the accident happened is not known, other than the boy had a target rifle in the room, which was discharged the ball striking his sister just above the left ear, entering the brain. Doctors Johnson and Hartwell were summoned, but nothing could be done to save the child's life. She died about ten o'clock.

Bertha was born in Waynoka, Oklahoma July 12, 1911 and died at her home near Jamestown, Kansas, April 11, 1921.

She is survived by her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Linder, two sisters and four brothers. The sisters are: Mrs. Lizzie Hays, Earlton, Kansas; Mrs. Foulds, Jamestown, Kansas; the brothers: Haden of Jamestown, Cecil of Camp Ringgold, Texas, and Harry and Boyd of Jamestown.

Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock conducted by Rev. T.H. Parrott. Interment was made in the Jamestown cemetery.
