Sailes: Another pioneer citizen of this parish was claimed by death on Wednesday, Nov. 6 when John David James passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. L.L. Brinkley after several months of failing health. Mr. James was born in Meriwether County, Georgia in 8164 and came to Louisiana in his childhood, where he grew to manhood and married Miss Laura Long, who preceded him in death by just five months. To this union was born four children: Mrs. L.L. Brinkley of Sailes, Mrs. J.C. Crow of Cotton Valley, T.W. James and J.D. James Jr. of Shreveport, all of whom survive, with nine grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Cypress spring Church with Rev. J.C. Cox officiating. Interment was in the Williamson Cemetery under the direction of Conger Funeral Home. Pallbearers were H.J. James Jr., Alva James, "Blondie" James, Willis Long, Claud Crow, and Doc Steed.
