William H. Cooley Jr., 84, of Peoria Heights passed away Sunday, June 11, 2006, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born on Oct. 13, 1921, in Wichita, Kan., to William H. Sr. and Dorothy Cooley, he married Mildred O. Prince on April 20, 1971, in Galesburg, Ill. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Mary DeFord, Deborah (Gerald) Manuel and Theresa (Robert) Murray; one son, William Steven Cooley; 16 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson; two stepdaughters, Barbara (Dick) Honegger and Betty (Don) Doole; one sister, Sandra (Kert) Gooch; three beloved caregivers, Lori Warner, Sheryl Rhodes and Carol Stall.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Shirley Wasson and one stepdaughter, Carolyn Reckerd.

He was a Machinist at Hiram Walker for 29 years, retiring in 1977.

He was a World War II Navy veteran and an avid fisherman.
