In 1889, he was living in the Lancaster County Alms House before he remarried. Cause of his death is listed as "chronic Bright's disease" with "arthritis deformans" a contributing factor.
Although his death certificate claims he is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, he lacks burial records there.
