He grew up in Hughes County and attended schools at Spaulding and Moss and had lived in New Mexico for 30 years, returning to Holdenville in 1973.
He married Inez Neal on December 12, 1931 in Holdenville, Ok. He was retired from Ray Bell Oil Co. and a member of the Assembly of God Church.
Survivors are his widow, Inez, of the home. Four daughters, Bennie Shaw and Nancy Baxley of Hagerman, N.M., Joyce Hammock, Lawton, Ok and Thresia Boans, Carlsbad, N.M. Four sons, Clyde Baxley, Soldotna, Alaska, Max Baxley, Rockingham, N.C. Montie Baxley, Carlsbad, N.M. and Carl Baxley of Hobbs, N.M. He is survived by 16 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sister, Sybil Backhaus, Sioux City, Ia; his brothers, Burl Baxley, Encinitas, Calif., and Kenneth Baxley, Roswell, N.M.
He was proceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Amy Baxley and two brothers, Ben Baxley and Gene Baxley.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 25th at 3:00 P.M. in Hudson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Venable officiating. Burial will be in Holdenville Cemetary.
