He settled in Pawtuxet (now Warwick) between Jul 1,1661 and Jul 12,1663. He died there after Dec 14,1687, and probably before Dec 26,1689, and certainly before Mar 22, 1698/9.

He married, by 1667, probably at Rehoboth,MA, Mary Redway. According to NEHGR, Vol 159, pp.55-64, it is likely that Abiah remarried after Mary's death, but evidence has not yet been found. It has been said that he married a sister, Abigail, of Ann Wickes/Weeks, possibly at Musketa Cove, Long Island during a brief residence there in 1670, but no concrete evidence exists.

Children(by first marriage): Oliver Carpenter, and, almost certainly, Rebecca Carpenter.

Children(probably by a second marriage to an unknown wife): Joseph Carpenter.
