Mike Yost, 89, of Fairmont, passed away Monday (Aug. 24, 2009) at Fairmont General Hospital. He was born on Dec. 12, 1919, in Enterprise, the only son of the late Nick & Anna Barcost Yost. Mr. Yost spent most of his life in Wooster, OH, where he was a gear cutter at Rexroth Corp. He retired from Rexroth in 1979 and while in Ohio was an active member of their retirees group. Since 2003, he has lived in Fairmont, first at the Fairmont Arbors and most recently at The Arbors of Fairmont Nursing Center. He is survived by his three children, Sandra Matheny &her husband, Donald of Westminster, MD, Gary Yost of Cleveland, OH, and Brian Yost of Medford, OR; two stepdaughters, Beverly Davis of Fairmont and Peggy McGrath & her husband, Dennis of Old Saybrook, CT; and 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his second wife, Cleora Ash Yost in 1977; and his third wife, Wilma Baker Yost in 2003. Friends and family may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 1 p.m. with Reverend Dr. Holley Faulkner officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Arnettsville Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at The Arbors for their many kindnesses and the devoted care given to Mike and the staff in Special Care at Fairmont General Hospital for their care and support.
