Cleora was the daughter of Thomas Brown and Zerviah Burgess. Through her father's lineage, Cleora was a direct descendant of William White, one of the original pilgrims on the Mayflower, 1620. She also descended from William Vassal, a financier of the Jamestown, Virginia Colony. Cleora first married Newton Dawes on May 14, 1844 in Cummington, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, USA. They had four children, which included Charles Brown Dawes (1845), Franklin Howland Dawes (1847), Henry Levi Dawes (1851), and Julie Emma Dawes (1857). All were born in Medina, Lenawee County, Michigan, USA. After the passing of her first husband Newton, she married George Turner in 1883, living in Jonesville, Hillsdale County, Michigan, USA. Cleora was a farmer's wife. She passed away on February 6, 1888, and is buried in Jonesville, Hillsdale County, Michigan, USA.
