Anna D. Simmons, Ponca City resident, passed away on Friday, Nov. 23, 2007, at her home. She was 84.

A service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 26, at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Andy Gifford officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park, under the direction of the Trout Funeral Home and Crematory.

Anna was born on Sept. 16, 1923, in Nokesville, Va. She was one of ten children born to Luther and Bertha Holsinger Diehl. When Anna was born her birth mother died and Frank and Della Egan raised her. After high school Anna began working for the U.S. Dept of the Navy. It was then she met Walter L. Simmons. Anna and Walter were married on Sept. 23, 1944, in Nokesville, Va. They lived in several different towns before moving to Ponca City. She had enjoyed being a cub scout mom.

Her hobbies included fishing and bowling. She also enjoyed being a member of the American Legion, the VFW and the Ponca City Country Club. Anna was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Anna will be dearly missed in the lives of many.

Family members include her sons, Carl T. Simmons and wife Euvon of Texas and W. Frank Simmons and wife Jodie of Blackwell, five grandchildren, Perry Smith, Tonia Stinson, Walter Simmons, Amanda Simmons and Samuel Simmons; seven great-grandchildren, Perry Smith, Michael Smith, Gabriel Smith, Daniel Stinson, Jacob Stinson, Michael Stinson and Rebecca Stinson; and one sister, Jean Egan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and eight siblings.

In memory of Anna, memorials may be made in her name to the First Presbyterian Church, 1505 East Grand, Ponca City, Okla. 74601.

Casket bearers will be James Stinson, Perry Smith, Samuel Simmons, Carl T. Simmons, W. Frank Simmons and Walter E. Simmons.

Bob Simmons and David Crofoot will be honorary casket bearers.
