Death of Mrs. Marks
Mrs. Cynthia Marks, wife of N. W. Marks, died at her home in this city, March 11, 1916, at age of 67 years, 4 months, 23 days. She had not been in good health for some time, but her last illness was brief.
Cynthia Ingels was born at Oskaloosa, IA. On October 18, 1848. On October 17, 1872, she married N. W. Marks. To this union three children, Minnie died in infancy, Ada J (Mrs. Billings Almy) and Ernest N. Marks, both residents of this community.
Mr. and Mrs. Marks moved to Cass Co. in the spring of 1881, where they lived on a farm about eight miles from this place, about 10 years ago they moved to the neighborhood west of Ashland, moving to the city in 1909.
Mrs. Marks leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, two children, 8 grandchildren, 2 sisters, 3 brothers, their names being, Mrs. Mary Tuttle, Mrs. Ella Mace, and Bruce, Walter and George Ingels - all residents of California.
Mrs. Marks joined the Methodist church in early girlhood, member of Greenwood Methodist Church and Ashland Methodist Church, due to poor health she was unable to attend services, but her quiet Christian life influenced her children.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church on Tuesday, 14th. The pall bearers were from the G.A.R. post and the Woman's Relief Corps, of which she was a member. Mr. Marks being a veteran of the Civil War, having served in Co., H of the 8th Iowa Infantry. A large number followed the casket as it was taken to Ashland Cemetery.
Those present from a distant were Mrs. Emma Parmalee, a sister of Mr. Marks, and Mr. and Mrs. Quartus Parmalee, of Plattsmouth.
