Last Rites Held For T. W. Whaley

Theodore Wesley Whaley, 53, who died Tuesday, Nov. 29, at St Joseph Hospital in Omaha, was buried in Ashland cemetery on Friday, Dec. 2, after funeral services were held at the Mercy Chapel.

The reverend Merle Zook conducted the services at the Chapel, and the Masonic Lodge conducted committal services at the cemetery. Lloyd Edwards song “In the Garden’ and “Beyond the Sunset,” accompanied by Mrs. Howard Anderson, organist

Pallbearers were Archie Williams, J. H. Campbell, A. D. Stanley, Orval Thiessen, Robert Welch, and Fred Stickney.

The son of DeWitt and Dora Whaley, he was born Sep. 5, 1902 at Lexington (NE).He received his schooling in Lexington and North Platte, and became a member of the Methodist Church at an early age. In 1917 he moved to California with his parents to make his home.

He married Ernestine Pinneo in 1923. Three sons were born to them: Duane E., Leonard Wesley, and Leslie Dean. They later separated and on Aug. 3, 1941, Mr. Whaley married again at Las Vegas, Nev. In 1943 Mr. and Mrs. Whaley left Bellflower, Calif., and returned to Nebraska, residing on a farm near Ashland since.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; his three sons; one stepson, Louis J. Wagner; one brother guy H. Whaley, of Payette, Idaho; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Out of town persons attending the funeral included Duane Whaley of Anaheim, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Wagner of Rising City; Edward, Dewitt, and Hobary Whaley, Mrs. Emil Harris, and Mrs. Marlin Carmen, all of Kearney (NE): and Mrs. Harry Jardine and daughters, Bonnie and Carol, of Mariaville (NE).
