Lester Armitage, 83, of Temperance, MI passed from this life September 9, 2009, after a lengthy illness. He was born and raised on Toledo, OH by his parents, Lester and Ercia Armitage.

He served in the U.S. Army and in 1949 he met and married Joan Spearing. Together they raised Jeffrey of Toledo and Brenda of Temperance.

Les was associated with Local 33 as a sheet metal worker for 3 decades, retiring in 1983.

He and Joan spent a life in retirement they had planned for and he survived to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary in May of this year.

Anyone who knew Les, knew he loved and lived for his family above all else. He was a wonderful husband, father and a good man.

Joan, Jeff, Brenda and special friend, Marsha Manon, nieces and nephews survive.

Visitation will be held at the Foth-Dorfmeyer Mortuary, 3815 Sylvania Ave. (between Monroe St. and Talmadge Rd.) Friday from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the mortuary on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. with additional visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. Interment Toledo Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the National Kidney Foundation or the American Heart Association .
