Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with Dr. Randy Davis, pastor of Lifeway Fellowship Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Highland Park Cemetery in Borger.
Mr. Cathey was born Oct. 30, 1929, to J.E. and Emma Mae Cathey. He graduated from Phillips High School and attended Frank Phillips College before going into the Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He was in the Reserves until 1960. After his military service, he worked for McCartts and managed Safeway stores and Affiliated Food Stores in Amarillo. He moved to Midland and worked 17 years for Sewell Ford as a fleet salesman. After retirement, he moved to Amarillo and volunteered as an ombudsman for Area for the Aged. Mr. Cathey served as president of the Downtown Senior Citizens Kiwanis Club and as a past president of Family Counsel at Bivins Memorial Nursing Home.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Earlene; two brothers, John and David; and a nephew, Chad Musgraves.
Survivors include two daughters, Pamela Ann Rogers and husband, Kirk, of Fort Worth and Lisa Ann Montman and husband, Richard, of Canada; a sister, Barbara Musgraves and husband, E.D., of Amarillo; four granddaughters, Paige Arlen Moore, Kassie Ann Rogers, Keri Elain Rogers and Sara Elizabeth Montman; two grandsons, Kirk B. "K.J." Rogers Jr. and Richard Clayton Montman; many loving cousins, nieces and nephews; and special friend, Regina Magill.
The family suggests memorials to be to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 50433, Amarillo, TX 79159.
