Dan was born in Muskegon, Michigan, the son of James A. Chester and Hazel (Kinney) Chester. He graduated from Holton High School in 1989, and then joined the U.S. Navy. He later worked for Herin Bros. Trucking in Hesperia. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and NASCAR, and he was a member of the Twin Lake Gun Club. He had a good and tender heart, and was always willing to help whenever he could. He also had a heart for the Lord, and wasn't afraid to say so. His great smile could brighten even a bad day. He is dearly loved, and will surely be missed. He is survived by his mother, Hazel (John) Deater of Twin Lake; sister, Christine Twork of Muskegon; paternal grandmother, Jean Chester, of Muskegon; two step-brothers, Brad and Brian Deater; one step-sister, Megan Deater; one niece; two nephews; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, James Chester; paternal grandfather, Arthur Chester; and both maternal grandparents.
