Thea was no stranger to sadness, she lost both her father and her sister Miriam, before graduating high school, shortly after WWII ended. She also had a lot of good memories, especially as a stewardess for Pan Am, where she got to travel and see the world.
In 1959, along with her older sister Anita Lillian (Higgins) Acosta, niece Diane Christine (Christy) Acosta and her mother Helen, she moved to the north east Los Angeles area of California. Shortly there after, Robin Sue Acosta was born. In the following year, Thea married Jan Garber Van Horn a fellow employee of Pan American airlines. Within the next five years, she would loose her older sister Anita and mother. Likewise, she give birth to her two children, Mimi and John Higgins Van Horn.
Thea's life was short, she went to be with her family in July 1976, who she loved and missed much. She is loved and missed dearly by those she left behind.
