He was born on August 5, 1941 in Highland Park to Walter and Jeanne (Tibbets) Ahlgren of Royal Oak. Corky was in the U.S. Navy from 1960 to 1963 as a radar operator. On August 14, 1964 he married Linda Cheryl King at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. They were married 45 years this past August.
He had worked in the accounting department at Chrysler from 1964 to 1969 when he had the opportunity to become a park ranger for the MI DNR and decided he would much rather work outdoors. He was a park ranger for the MI DNR for 23 years and for the city of Rochester Hills for nine years.
He was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Evart. Corky was active in Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, the Nature Conservancy, the Audubon Society, Arbor Days and the Lutheran Hour. He enjoyed many different outdoor activities including boating, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, exploring new places and revisiting old ones.
Corky is survived by his wife, Linda (King) Ahlgren of Sears; his children, Jodi (Greg) Drogowski of Indian River and Christopher (Kate) Ahlgren of Shelby Township; his grandchildren, Jessica, Caleb, Rebekah and Jacob Drogowski and Melissa, Meaghan, Malachi and Myles Ahlgren; his sister, Patricia (Donald) Price and his mother, Jeanne Maynard, both of Las Vegas; as well as many much loved in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Clarence Ahlgren.
In accordance with Corky's wishes, his body has been donated to the U of M medical school. His final interment will be at Washtenong Memorial Park.
