VAN VLIET, Harry O., 77, died Thursday morning in a Burlington hospital.
He was born in Charlotte, August 24, 1882 the son of Curtis and Sarah (Shaw) Van Vliet.
He was a lifelong resident of Charlotte. He was a member of the East Charlotte Baptist Society, of the Charlotte United Church and was a deacon of the Baptist Society and a member of the prudential committee of the United Church.
He also was a member of the Grange in Charlotte.
He leaves his wife, Calla (Miles) Van Vliet; two sons, the Rev. H. Barton Van Vliet of North Creek, N.Y.; and Robert Merrill Van Vliet of Dayton, Ohio; three daughters, Mrs. John Schroeder of Hyde Park, N.Y., Mrs. Howard Cranwell of Shelburne and Mrs. William Zeuch of Hyannis, Mass.; six grandchildren, a niece and a nephew.
It is requested that flowers be omitted and instead contributions may be made for a memorial of a tower and church sound system in care of the Rev. Richard Neill.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Congregational Church. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery. The body will be at the vestry of the Congregational Church where friends may call Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. Gordon H. Brown Funeral Service of Bristol in charge.
