A funeral service for Ruby Grubaugh, 87, of Newark, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Schoedinger Norris Chapel in Grove City, with the Rev. Charles Smith officiating. Graveside service and burial will follow at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Gardner Cemetery, Waverly.
Ruby Grubaugh, 87, of Newark, died Thursday, January 29, 2004, at the Selma Markowitz Care Center, operated by Hospice of Central Ohio. She was born May 2, 1916 in Maggoffin Co., KY, the daughter of the late Buren and Ida Mae (Conley) Jackson.
Ruby was a member of the State Road Fork United Baptist Church in Falcon, Ky., where she was baptized in 1936. She loved cooking, fishing and gardening. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.
Ruby is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 60 years, Forrest E. Grubaugh; daughter, Lulu Mae Schneider, of Dublin; sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth R. and Kathy Grubaugh, of Newark, and Edmond and Karren Borders, of Heath; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Dixie and Donald Abernathy, of Washington Court House; sister, Josephine Montgomery, of Obetz; brothers and sisters-in-law, Hanson and Ruby Jackson, of Muncie, Ind., and Orville and Reba Jackson, of Hilliard; brother-in-law, John Grubaugh, of Newark, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Virgil and Esther Boyer, of Millersport, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her first husband, Woodrow Borders; sons, Earl Borders, Walter Borders and Carmet Borders; sisters, Mary Jane Hart, Anna Lou Pennington and Dorothy Eileen Jackson; brothers, Audie Jackson, Arnold Jackson, Marvin Jackson and Dormas Jackson.
Calling hours are 2-4 p.m. & 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Schoedinger Norris Chapel, 3920 Broadway, Grove City, where the funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2004, with Rev. Charles Smith officiating. Graveside service and burial 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gardner Cemetery, Waverly, OH.
